I LOVE singing the good stuff (classical compositions) and LOATHE singing the kitschy and schlocky stuff.

I love singing and listening to seasonal music with certain caveats:

1. I hate singing choral music but I love to listen to it
2. Please do not ask me to sing shitty music, then expect me to enjoy it. Give me something decent to sing or listen to.
3. If you ask me to sing, please pay me. On time, with no bounced checks.

OK, I'll admit it - even after all these years, I'm STILL a garden-variety Gig Slut; my appreciation &/or 'enjoyment' of singing something can be VERY much influenced on what (and how much) my recompense is. And this goes for ALL 'seasonal music', no matter WHAT "season" you're talking about!

Making sure these are showing up ok...

I dig MOST music. I kind of hate dealing with the people who are trying to put it together this kind of year. They are so strung out and stressed that it starts to rub off on me. I so don't enjoy taking the burden of OTHER people's stress on. I also find that audition season saps my energy for enjoying Christmas. Sigh.

I love Christmas and the Advent season leading up to it. I love many of the Christmas carols that we sing in church. Fortunately for me, I don't have to sing in a choir most of the time, because I hate doing that with an absolute passion. I would rather listen to a (hopefully good) choir than sing in one.

As far as secular Christmas music is concerned, my idea of Hell is an eternity of Muzak playing "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Feliz Navidad" over and over and over. Throw in "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and you have the 7th Circle of Hell.

Dear composers, pliz be not composing more kitschy schlock for holiday seasons, there is enough already. More good stuff please!!!
